Following the successful delivery of the Insomnia Liffey Valley project, GES was brought back to carry out a full rewire of the Insomnia Coffee shop in Dun Laoghaire. The brief was the same proven approach — strip back the existing installation entirely and deliver a brand-new electrical fit out covering emergency lighting, fire alarm, and all general services — but this time within an even tighter four-day programme.
The Challenge
The four-day programme left no room for delays. Every trade had to be coordinated precisely, and the electrical work had to be sequenced to allow other contractors to work alongside GES without conflict. The fire alarm system had to be fully commissioned and tested before the premises could reopen, which meant the alarm installation had to be completed and certified within the overall four-day window.
Our Solution
Drawing on the experience from the Liffey Valley project, we applied the same phased approach — cable runs and containment on day one, fire alarm and emergency lighting on day two, general power and lighting on day three, and final testing and commissioning on day four. The team worked efficiently to maintain the programme, and the fire alarm was tested and certified by the end of day four.
The Result
The Insomnia Dun Laoghaire shop was handed over fully operational after four days on site, meeting the reopening deadline. The fire alarm, emergency lighting, and all general services were tested, commissioned, and certified.
