Patrick Sr spent years serving in the Irish Defence Forces and Air Corps before retraining as a qualified electrician. We didn't start with a grand plan. There was no investor pitch or business consultant. It was just the two of us, one van, and a belief that if we turned up on time, did honest work, and treated every customer the way we'd want to be treated ourselves, word would spread. Our first jobs were attic conversions around Dublin — wiring up new rooms, installing lighting, making sure everything was safe and certified. As GES has grown, so has the family behind it. Pat's son Robert — my brother — has started his apprenticeship with us, learning the trade from the ground up. Our partners help run the office and keep everything behind the scenes ticking over. And the staff we've brought on board over the years? They're not just colleagues — they're genuine friends. We look after our people because that's how you build a team that actually cares about the work they do.

If you'd told us a few years ago that a typical father and son from Ballyfermot would end up winning national awards and running a team of 15 across Dublin, we'd have laughed. But here we are.
